A Superhero RPG

Posted : 17 years, 3 months ago on 20 January 2007 08:53 (A review of Marvel Ultimate Alliance)

When we first booted this up I thought I was going to hate it once the gameplay started. I thought "Oh great another third person button masher". But fairly soon the game became a bit more complicated. There are lots of heroes available, and choosing a favorite and selecting and upgrading his/her different super powers is part of the fun, as well as swiping the various secret power ups and items before your partner does (you can play two players on the same screen). Different heroes also begin to work better with one another after experience (there are usually 4 heroes in a group).
Another surprise was the motion controls. Tossing bad guys around and dodging monsters is controlled by the motion sensors in the Sixaxis, and is quite fun.
The BAD: The storyline and the levels designs are a bit too linear, it plays like a third person scroller. Graphics aren't very good for a PS3 game. Sometimes you lose your amongst the onscreen chaos.
I haven't tried the online play yet, and I doubt I will have time to before I have to return the game.
Buy it? Eh, maybe after a price drop. Or if I get sick of Resistance FoM before Elder Scrolls IV is released.

Poop is funny... hahaha

Posted : 17 years, 4 months ago on 11 January 2007 05:20 (A review of Robot Chicken)

Another bit and snippet cartoon with no plot, no characters, no direction, no creativity, and no funny. Picture an 8 year old playing with his action figures while regurgitating playground fart jokes and you have this show.

A Collection of Terrible One Liners

Posted : 17 years, 4 months ago on 11 January 2007 04:55 (A review of Family Guy)

Mostly this show is about getting in some pop culture reference from at least 10 years previous. Most of the time there's not even an actual joke associated with it, it's just so older people can go "Ha Ha I remember that: (choose one) commercial/tv show/song/news event/food/fad/movie/celebrity/monkey throwing poop"

Stewie is sometimes funny, but it's not worth is slogging through the entire show for one funny moment that won't even make you laugh out loud.

And don't say I don't get it... Because I get it. It's just not funny.

A Steaming Pile of S**t

Posted : 17 years, 4 months ago on 6 January 2007 07:30 (A review of Armageddon)

"I have a great idea for a movie... Let's get all of Hollywood's most annoying actors together, put them all in to a pseudo sci-fi where everybody dies after they get to land the space shuttle on an asteroid moving at 100000 miles per hour and then drive a space monster truck on it and then blow up some nukes and save the Earth... Yeah! That would be an awesome movie! But then let's take THAT idea and make it 100 times MORE unbelievable and lame."

That's this movie.

Gorgeous...

Posted : 17 years, 4 months ago on 6 January 2007 07:16 (A review of Sony PlayStation 3)

Beautiful... Black... Shiny... Heavy. But why can't I view my photos from my PC drive or listen to my mp3s over the network that was incredibly easy to set up??? Come on Sony... Get this fixed or I'll be switching to Microsoft

OK... But derivative

Posted : 17 years, 4 months ago on 6 January 2007 07:01 (A review of Resistance: Fall of Man)

It's trying to be both Half-Life and Call of Duty obviously... But without the tenseness of Half-Life and without the reality of Call of Duty it ends up being neither. But goddamn does it look good at 720p!!! I can only hope that the weapons and Skill Points will continue to make the game better as I continue. Will I finish it? Definitely. Will I play the next difficulty level... Probably... Will this game win any awards for ingenuity? No way.

Freaking Billiant

Posted : 17 years, 4 months ago on 5 January 2007 05:05 (A review of Eddie Izzard: Dress to Kill)

Show this to everybody. They may be a bit offset and distracted by the makeup and dress at first, but eventually will not be able to stop laughing.
